Now you can install CyanogenMod 14.1 a.k.a CM 14.1 featuring Nougat 7.1 on Redmi Note 3. XDA developer Santhosh M has released an almost stable version of CM 14.1 which you can install as a daily driver on your Redmi Note 3. Though an official build of CyanogenMod 14 for Note 3 is not yet released, you can install this version on your phone and experience android Nougat 7.1 features.note3cm14

This build is in WIP status and may have some minor bugs which is avoidable as far as usability is concerned. The developer mentions a few including CM related bugs and fingerprint scanning issue with some specific apps. Apart from these, everything works including WiFi, Camera, GPS and even VoLTE feature. This guide helps you install CM 14.1 running on Nougat 7.1 on your Redmi Note 3.

Pre-requisites

  • Needless to say, an unlocked bootloader is mandatory. Unlock your bootloader first by visiting Mi developer page.
  • Your Redmi Note 3 should be rooted with a working custom recovery installed. I prefer TWRP over CWM.
  • Install Redmi Note 3 USB drivers in your PC [Link].
  • Backup your important data including call logs, messages, bookmarks. Installing CM 14.1 ROM doesn’t wipe internal storage unless you unlock booloader for this time.

Disclaimer

Unlocking bootloader voids warranty and the following procedure requires intermediate knowledge in performing developer stuffs. This guide to update redmi note 3 with CM 14.1 running on nougat 7.1 is only for the Snapdragon variant and do not try with others.
